NASCAR: Labonte replaced by Darnell for 7 Races

Hall of Fame Racing announced today that Bobby Labonte will sit out seven of twelve remaining NASCAR Sprint Cup Series races and will be replaced by Roush Fenway Racing's NASCAR Nationwide Series driver, Erik Darnell. Labonte, the 2000 Sprint Cup Champion, is being replaced due to sponsorship troubles. Darnell will race with sponsorship from Northern Tool + Equipment and Academy Sports & Outdoors.
While it is unfortunate that Labonte will not be racing, it could be a blessing in disguise. Labonte, since joining Petty Enterpises in 2006, has ran around mid-pack in the Sprint Cup Series. Hopefully, he takes time to reflect on the fact that he has had an excellent championship career and maybe takes a look at the situation his brother, Terry. Terry, a two-time Sprint Cup champ, is currently driving part-time for the back marker Carter-Simo Racing team. I just hope Bobby doesn't tarnish his legacy as Terry has done.
